This was another one of those recipes that started out as a &#8216;what&#8217;s in the fridge?&#8217; moment and I thought turned out reasonably well. The pastry makes them very rich, you wouldn&#8217;t want more than two as a meal, but they work as well cold as<br \/>\nhot.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_328\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/davstott.me.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/img_2782.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-328\" src=\"http:\/\/davstott.me.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/img_2782-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Asparagus and broccoli pasty\" title=\"Finished pasty\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-328\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-328\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Asparagus and broccoli pasty<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Makes 6<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n<p>6-8 asparagus spears<br \/>\n8-6 purple sprouting broccoli florets<br \/>\nhalf a packet of readymade puff pastry<br \/>\n1 beaten egg<br \/>\n50g grated cheese<br \/>\n6 tablespoons of pasta sauce<\/p>\n<p>Method<\/p>\n<p>Get the oven warming up to 180 degrees C<br \/>\nChop the asparagus and broccoli into pieces 3-4cm long and steam them for 4 minutes. Set to one side to cool down a bit<br \/>\nRoll out the pastry so it&#8217;s thick enough to support the weight, 3mm should suffice and cut it into equal rectangles.<\/p>\n<p>Pretty much any sauce would do, mine was some tomato, basil and balsamic left over, but you could make your own quickly enough.
