This recipe was originally done with apples and plenty of ground cinnamon on top, and having home grown apples is doubly cool! Jellies are another fun way of using apples, blackberry and apple is good but I think my favourite so far is an apple jelly flavoured with ginger and elderflower cordial

I had exactly the same type of thing with my tyres where I was losing pressure in the front passenger and rear wheels and after seeing the dealer and declining to purchase a new set of alloys I found Alloy Wheel Refurbishment online and they proceeded to remedy the problem and now the wheels are as good as new. Seems this is a common problem they see day in and day out. So for all those out there reading, be resilient against the dealer telling you to splash out the cash on new rims !!

Edit: don’t forget engine braking too, if you’re careful with the clutch, it can be hugely more effective than applying the disks at all four corners

A quick update. This has turned out to be one of my most popular articles, which just goes to show that Karma exists because I didn’t bother making my own images at the time.

I’ve got a couple of jars left of this vintage and they’re still just as tasty after three and a half years as they were after three months, so it does keep if you bottle it correctly.

@Dav Glad you mentioned that, as I was wondering if I needed to go out and buy the approx. 5 times more expensive "Creme double" here, but can now get away with normal cream.

Growing up’s boring!

But probably ought to tell you that I’ve packed in my job. I leave at Christmas. Been hating it for a while and have noting else planned yet. Not sure it’s a very grown up thing to do (neither does my Dad!) but looking forwards to actually doing a little less if you know what I mean – and hopefully enjoying the simple things a bit more. I forgot to mention, check the fat content of the cream carefully,it needs to be at least 20% for it to work. I was using 39% double cream from a reasonably premium brand

Loving your blog at Bruichladdich – we have been there the last two years for the festival – and know Jim and Duncan well now. The academy sounds fantastic – never knew it was so hands on – and so early starts.

I would ask Jim about his special screen wash he used years ago – in deepest winter time – I think it has quiet a high proof.
